Hi jenismithies,
Apologies for the delay in responding to you and thank you for bringing this to our attention.

I have passed the information on to the Section ranger in charge of that area and Conservation Manager. The rangers will be keeping an eye out for this. I've also communicated it to our People & conservation staff who have various environmental education programmes running with local communities. I'm sure they can focus on the issue with the relevant schools too.

:) HI, THIS IS MY WEEKLY QUESTION.

Does anyone have more pics or a tr of Ellies and other Game from the recently opened up Southern section of Addo. This truly is a lovely, Lovely section of the park "Brand new" for Lots of animals. I think this is a very exciting time for Addo, i personally will be spending five nights there in March next year and hopefully will be posting many pic's and maybe write a tr, depending on the enthusiasm.

hi all. Was at Addo Saturday and I agree, the south section is so lovely and green. Saw lots of elies there - mostly large ones with big tusks, look like KNP elies. Also saw a lot of zebra, eland, warthog and ostriches. Saw what I think was a juvenile Jackal Buzard, also saw an adult in the old section. No lions, but just being in the bush was worth it. Saw 6 jackal sightings, 13 sightings last week.

We were also in the park over the weekend and saw most of our animals in the Southern part, including lions. Will post pics later today.

Animals seen in the new section of the park over the past weekend

It is green with lots of food, so a lot of animals moved down there.

A group of abot 50 Eland. The biggest herd I have ever seen.

Two different buffalo sightings. One group about 150 strong.

Two very quick but special sightings for me. First a Rooikat and then a Ground Monitor

An Eli eating Prickly Pears

A Lion fimily. Looks as if the 2 youngsters don't like the fact that Dung Beatles are more important then they are. :D :D

Wow love the photos, especially the lions.

On our last trip a few weeks back we definitely saw a lot more in the Southern section, although mostly in the early part (from Marion Baree until the vegetation gets very dense further into the Southern section). Saw Zebra for the first time in Addo, but they were very far up on the hill along with a large herd of Red Hartebeest. We also saw Hyenas there.

Wonderful photos, lions and a caracal in the same day! You really hit the jackpot on that trip. Thanks so much for sharing.
