Are there any plans afoot to have a picnic site, with gas and skottels etc as in Kruger, built anywhere away from the main camp? It would be nice, don't you think?

It would also be nice to have a toilet in the Carol's Rest area. Unless you are near the Spekboom hide, you have to dash back to the main camp to attend to Nature's call.

I think a toilet is needed on top of Zuurkop. Just walking around there, you'll notice that a LOT of people are already using this area as a toilet.
to drive from Carols rest to zuurkop for a nature call is not that far and Zuurkop is a nice centralized point with roads from all directions, maybe this is why people already use it as a public toilet, and the fact that you are allowed to exit your vehicle there.

Fair enough NightOwl, just that the bumpy road back down from CR might just remove the need

Yes, and often you have to"knyp" until you reach Spekboom, only to find that the toilets there are out of order again! Ouch! They definately need some extra loos around- Zuurkop would be good.

Megan: do you have an ETA on the Picnic site?

Work has started on the construction of a new picnic site (with toilets) in the main game area. It is expected that this will be open to the public in the first few months of 2008.

Are there no picnic sites in Addo. We were hoping to have our traditional Kruger Park breakfast in Addo in December

Kathy sa, you can still have a lovely breakfast cook up at the day visitors area in the main camp. From there you can look out over the waterhole and enjoy the view over the Park. We normally pack coffee and rusks and drive to a waterhole first thing in the morning and then return to the main camp for breakfast.

Addo has no picnic sites with facilities like Nkuhlu and Tshokwane, in fact not even like Timbavati.
The only place there are toilets and a fenced get out spot is the Spekboom hide, and there are no tables & chairs there. The main camp is only half an hour from anywhere n Addo though.

There are one or two lookout points, like Domkrag Dam, where you could put up a table & chairs and have tea/breakfast if you like, but there are no facilities there.
