Hi, The shop at the Main Camp does have some supplies but it is recommended to drive to the Supermarket about 5km from Matyholweni Gate for a larger range of supplies. Also, trying to keep supplies cold and fresh while driving through the park could be a problem unless you are travelling with Cooler Boxes etc. There are also options for breakfast and dinner at restaurants very close to the gate, so you don't have to cook. Ask at reception for recommendations and remember to make a reservation. Hope you enjoy your stay. Addo is great!!!

Hi pucelou,
I have just returned from Addo this afternoon and took special note of the supplies in the shop in the main camp. You will certainly be able to rustle up a fun bush meal or two with purchases from there!

As far as I know, if you are booked in to Camp Matyholweni you may enter and leave at any time as there is a 24 hour security guard at the gate to allow you in and out if you wish to go to the Supermarket or one of the nearby attractions and stay out after dark.

Hi again pucelou,
Megan will be able to confirm this for you - re the gate times. But I do know of cases where visitors have eaten dinner at the restaurant in the main camp and then driven around outside the Park back to Matyholweni.
I was just thinking that when you drive to Addo, a good idea might be to go via the Colchester entrance into the Park and stop at the Spar on your way there if you are worried about what you might be able to buy in the main camp.
Yes, pucelou, you can travel in and out of the Matyholweni Gate after 16h00 if you are booked into the accommodation there. There is a security guard posted there 24 hours.

Drive out the gate 2 km at the Stop sign turn left and bear left to the N2. At the N2 turn left and 1km later turn right at the BP petrol station and the Supermarket is behind the petrol station. Hope that helps. I will try and get the GPS co-ords of the Supermarket if that will help but perhaps the Petrol station is already on the system. Enjoy Addo.
