This morning, a juvenile Cape Vulture, was spotted in the Nyati area of the Park, close to the River Bend Lodge:





Wonderful to see that the vultures - which would have occurred in this area historically - may be returning. There have been some sightings of vultures in the main game area too (species not confirmed) as well as in previous years in the Nyati area (white-backed vultures). There is certainly plenty of food for them and the Zuurberg mountains would provide nesting sites for Cape vultures.

How wonderful to know that the vultures might be returning to this area. It would do the park a world of difference to have these magnificent birds back to pick up the left overs.

As you say there is enough food but, just wondering if a vulture kitchen would help to try and entice them back for good and in larger numbers???

@Carolynn a vulture kitchen or vulture resturant is an area where carcusses are put out to attract the vultures into an area where they can feed and be monitored.

maybe misled by incorrect terminology.
