[quote="simonB, you are making some pretty big assumptions here. I am not sure where you are getting info from, but it is incorrect.[/quote]
Hello Megan,
Apologies for the lengthy silence, only just seen your comment, weird that I missed it.
Been away from Addo and all things forum for way to long. The bush is calling me really bad, will see it really so

Sadly only hours and hours of hard work pay the bills. Lucky during this time I did manage to make sure Addo now has 3G for Vodacom users, so my next visit will be really sweet.
My comment about hyena recordings was not an assumption, it was fact. Usually when a very reliable source tells me things, then shows me pictures, I believe it. I heard and saw evidence of the recordings post 2008, back then it was used to lure the Hyena's for research, or at least thats what I was told. Maybe this practice has since stopped, maybe it's now used to lure lions instead of hyena's. Whatever the purpose, post 2008, some sounds heard came from audio recordings.
The hyena boma (post 2008), located a stones throw from the main camp behind Rooidam, could very well also been were the sounds heard came from. I am sure that not every sound heard in the park is fake. I understand that SANParks needs to do research, tag and release animals for trans-location and safety purposes etc, to do this some times audio recordings are used.
Anyway this topic is so old, lets just drop it and move on.
Thanx for always being the best source at addo
