Friedrich and Henk, apologies, my maths (non)skills left me in the lurch...there are indeed only 9 lions currently in Addo main game area/Colchester:

- Gina (5yrs) plus her two young male juveniles (1.5 yrs old) often seen down in Colchester

- Three Subadults (2 from Gina, 1 from Kamqua) seen around Main Camp from Carols Rest across through Gorah to Marion Baree, although recently they are spending more time in Colchester
The subadults are two males - Norman and Zwaai - and a female - Josie - all about 3 yrs old.

- Aardlam (8 yrs) by herself generally in Main Camp

- Two adult males - Roy (4 yrs) and Nomad (5 yrs) - seen in Colchester mainly

Hope that makes things clearer.

Thank You Megan.

Great to add names to the young ones. One is not maybe named after a very good guide in Addo?(Zwaai).

Seems like the southern area is more and more the place to look for lion.

Lion Sightings in Southern Section

I was fortunate to have this fantastic sighting yesterday of five Lions in the Southern Section.
Gina, the lioness with her two young male cubs and two adult male lions.

Oh wow Ronnie, fantastic photo of the males. Don't they look great!

General question - does anyone know the dynamics of the group? The two males seem to be fairly tolerant of the sub adult males. Is that because they are related or because they are too big to chase off?

We went to Kuzuko Lodge two weeks ago and on our first game drive saw their two lions on the airstrip in that part of the park.

Kalahari is looking magnificent

Matt is also looking very good except for his slack jaw which apparently is the aftermath of a fight with Kalahari in which most of his bottom teeth were ripped out. The ranger did say that he has adapted very well to the result of the injury.

My best lion day ever... I went to the South to look for Gena and the boys on Sunday and found 6 Lions on the Vukani Loop. (Nomad, Roy, Josie, Gena and the boys.)
