Good morning WCNP enthusiasts.

It’s that time of the year again. Flowers and shy animals. Here’s to a bumper flower season.

Looking forward to the updates on the forum and the drives up to WCNP. :cam:

Hi all , just spent the afternoon in the WCNP, flowers aren't quite out in full force yet but the postberg section still looks beautiful regardless!!! Plenty of eland, bontebok, springbok, kudu and even gemsbok around postberg, unfortunately no bat-eared foxes or caracals... Cannot believe the speed visitors to this park drive!!! Do they not realise there are in fact wild animals at WCNP? And a speed limit??? Amazing place nontheless, Regards. Mike

Thanks for the update Mike! I was wondering when would be a good time to go out that way to see the flowers. Especially with the lovely weather we are having this side of the world at the moment.

I think we will leave it for another week or so.

We were also up at the WCNP on Saturday. I was really wondering for a period where all the animals had gone! Turns out they were all hiding in Postberg! Flowers were not yet out in full force, but there are patches, especially in the open plains near the beach/picnic area (it slips my mind at the moment what the beach within Postberg is called?).

It was well worth the trip up, even now. Enough of everything to make it worthwhile, and I couldn't believe how empty the park was! It was lovely and quiet, and exactly the relaxing day I needed!

The antelope are ALL (supposed to be) in Postberg Orange.

Some, like eland have swum the lagoon to get back to their 'home' ground and others have escaped, and there are caracals in all parts.

I wonder if it was a considered decision to prorect them from the racetrack to Langebaan through the park? :hmz:

We are planning to go on Friday. Good decision?

Spent Sunday in the Park with the family.
Potsberg is starting to bloom, with the rest of the park offering great yellow magrietjie-bushes.

Seems like a number of mites have been to WCNP and some more intend going this weekend.

Well, we also have plans for Friday. Guess - we dust off the YR we last used in Kruger and give it some air for the trip to WCNP :hmz:

Hope for good weather, though. :D

Friday forecast - sunny 1 - 18C.

The fire engine will be sporting the YR. And stopping to look at things, so speedsters be warned!! Parks rules are "Park on the same side of the road as the sighting".

Thanks mate, caracal will do. Apart from a brief glimpse of one in Kgalagadi in March, the only ones I have seen were in WCNP.
