Spring is in the air and Bontebok is in full bloom. Whilst year round the Renosterveld at Bontebok National Park is a spectacular sight. The freshly burnt areas allow the avid botanists a chance to see some of the endemic and endangered species that would otherwise be hidden. Or for those of you who like me just like to look, it gives you a chance to see some of the spectacular variety.
However it is not only the flowers that are currently in bloom. We have entered the lambing season and several Bonteboks have already been seen with lambs. The distinct difference in colour between mum and baby as well as the Bonteboks individual markings provide a great opportunity for visitors to see how the colourful boks got their name.
With SANParks week next week (12th-17th) it provides South Africans a great opportunity to visit the parks for free and a chance to get to know your park. So visit Bontebok and see the baby bokkies bouncing around

just rememeber your ID!
