Hi, I am traveling to South Africa for a holiday and want to hike Table Mountain. Having searched online, I have found lots of sites offering guided tours. However my partner and I would really like to spend 5-6 days hiking Table Mountain unguided, is this possible??????

Hi Sam,
Self-discovery is more fun than being guided, isn't it?
But you're not allowed to camp in a tent on top, if that's what you mean. You could hike unguided each day, and return to your accommodation each night.
This may be the best way to see the mountain anyway, because the many routes up and down are a huge part of its charm.

It is possible, but you need to be very serious about safety, common sense and preparation or you could end up as one of hundreds who need to be rescued annually, some even alive!
There are many trails on the mountain and a few excellent books, (Mike Lundy is one author) giving maps and advice.
Don't skimp on safety and preparation. You might spend the rest of your life on the mountain.
