I'd like to book to see the spring flowers so any advise would be appreciated!

We've never been to that part of the country  BUT it's on the 2014 bucket list!

Obvious destination: Namaqua National Park! :D

When is the best time to book keeping in mind that we can only do 10 days.
(Which usually extends by one night, then another.. )

Which campsite is the best? The campsites are indicated on the map but no names and I'll book online.....
I see that one has to be self-sufficient which is not a problem, we love camping that way. :D

Jen how exciting.. Now do try to book nice and early though the camp sites are easier to get into BUT the flowers are not only Namagualand do travel south and pop into Elandsbaai area and travel along the coastal road near the railway line .. amazing sight . Dont forget the WCNP and Postberg .. Camping is at Yserfontein as the WCNP has no camp sites though do spoil yourselves and have two nights at Abrahamskraal Nice and rustic near a super bird hide( fresh water) Plenty space to park the caravan /trailer/whatever So you get birdies in and flowers .They of course have other bird hides along the lagoon

Hi Jen,

The 'average' best time to go is last week in August and first week in September, but this varies according to the rainfall. In 2013 the rains came early and so did the flowers.

WCNP and Nieuwoudville are also usually good places (among others) to see the flowers.

Thanx BB and Hugh!

I did a bit of homework and it seems like a trip all the way down to Nieuwoudville and WCNP is a must. Now to see how long we can stretch it!
