We are trying to ID this Hawk Moth that we saw Oct/Nov 2013. We think Silver-striped HM or Vine HM but if anyone knows please tell us.

Hi Peregrine Falcon
I'm not an expert but your ID of the Hawk Moth as a Silver Striped/Vine HM looks spot on. The pink base on the hind wings is diagnostic with this HM.
Thanks for sharing one of the "less glamorous" fauna with us.

Hi shfish, many thanks for confirming our id.

What a shame people see them as "less glamorous".We think they are stunning. We stopped for the flowers and we realised there was a hawkmoth on them, stunning.

Take care.
