So nice birds,so nice pictures ,thanks everybody
I would not have thought, Kgalagadi was such a birding spot !

In August 2011, it was "open bar in Grootkolk" and the customers visited the place, more than once.
It's a sociable meeting point ...

A great tradition we are a lot to respect when in Grootkolk :D

Love that pic Goronta...we also put out water for the birds. Once we saw a Black-faced waxbill arrive amongst the Socaible Weavers..I was not quick enough to get it on camera though. :(

right Grootkolk is a regal for the eyes
we can fill the bowls... every half an hour

I got one Black-faced Waxbill... will search
:hmz: seems to be easier to see Violet-eared Waxbill... and less wild or quick

Thanks Caracal and Anne-Marie.

It's true we could spend day after day watching them coming for a drink.
My camera is always by me on a bean bag to catch the visitors but a few seconds is enough sometimes to miss some opportunities .

Once the "bar was open, more birdies of the same family came and all of a sudden, it was difficult to find a seat and they started to queue !

If you're interested by the business of this local bar, I have some other guests to introduce :cam:

:hmz: Interesting anne-marie. When I was last there, I had far more blackcheeked than violetearred waxbills. Will also look out a few pix
