To the 8 or 9 cars that rushed past us, look a bit closer next time, we weren't just photographing another sunset. At 19h12 this male lion walked along the dune rim for about 8 minutes in the dunes between the riverbed and the camp .

Early that same morning there were 2 cheetah not far from this position and again at least 4 cars rushed past, the cheetah went on to make a wildebeest calf kill 10 minutes later.

Rushing away from Mata-Mata seems to be a habit with many.
Heard more stories like that before.

Great shots of the lion on the dune. A pity some missed it while driving west with the setting sun in their eyes. Maybe they were trying to get to camp before sunset. Was this shot taken at the turnoff to the tented camp or closer to Mata-Mata.

I hope you got lots of fab shots of the wildebeest kill. Usually one see them hunting for springbok, but wildebeest is quite large and not often recorded.

A year or what ago the was lots of debate if its possible for cheetah to pull down a wildebeest, and it just proof how often we learn something new from nature.
