Hi Nina. We met you in Nossob looking at the Scop's owl 2 years ago and it was certaily green and beautiful then.
We'll be in Twee Rivieren on Monday   but the weather looks hot, hot hot and dry for the next 7 days but it's sure to rain for the cricket! :? :?

Hi Tobieo

Should see you at Mata Mata -- we camp there on March 17, 18, 19 with 14 schoolkids. Hope the weather is lovely then!

God bless,

Friedrich von Horsten

Hi granjan,
Yes, of course I remember you. Afterwards we met at several other sigthings in the car .... :D (and at one of the giraffe sightings, Anton accidentally sounded the horn while moving around in the car

I wish you a great trip with many exciting sightings :D
Somehow I thought that in March, it is ALWAYS like it was 2 years ago: long green grass everywhere and beautiful flowers.
I am very worried about how it currently looks like and keep my fingers crossed that the rain will come!
The Kalahari is a harsh environment and the animals are well adapted - but what shall the animals eat if the grass does not grow?

By the way, why does everyone think it is going to rain at the cricket match????????? Is there any secret relation between cricket and rain?

Have a wonderful time in the magic Kalahari.
Nina

It's no secret - it's just a law of nature - if you specially want it to be dry for an event - like a cricket match then its's sure to rain  or when BB wants to visit

Well I can unfortunately confirm it is VERY dry with very little grazing left for the animals! The browsers still have a few trees to nibble on but the poor grazers.......

Sightings were also not good (although had some special ones) and it was extremely hot. I returned a few days earlier than I was meant to due to a back problem (and the drought and heat) Even the Park staff says it is the driest it has been for MANY years.

God bless KTP!

Thanks for the update.

That is not good news! The weather forecast does not seem to be promising either!

Hopefully there will be a bit of rain before we get there at the end of April
