For those of you that do understand Afrikaans...........

Article in Die Burger

Not sure if it's the Jan van Wyk from the forum, but if it is, what a story to tell!!

In short...........

There was a lioness in Kamqua Ladies toilets Sunday and when a lady wanted to go in she was surprised by a very aggressive lioness.

Apparently the lioness broke some of the wooden bars to gain entrance and after a while found the hole again and left the toilet and disappeared over the dune.

My goodness what a fright that would be. Could have been a hungry lioness too and the fact that it knew enough to break the bars, just shows how intelligent they are.

As least this lady chose the ladies. The last one at Dikbaardskolk had her cubs in the gents!

@ gatita: What a beautiful sighting at Marie's and a big pride too! Very nice photo and thanks for sharing!

@ GavinW: Hi Gavin, that is soooo scary, but good. I wonder how she opened that sliding door? (I saw this photo to-day on the 'net',) It appeared in the Volksblad with a nice photo of Kampqua. It made me long back to KTP again! FMJ

 Last week when at Kamqua Picnic Spot I spent several minutes trying to get the door back on the rails!! It was open when we got there and obviously the occupants before us did not close it properly or could not manage to close it. It's quite heavy and was not that easy to get back on to the rail! It jams at a point, but after a firm pull it closes.
Always be careful, you never know where you come across these amazing sightings as Gavin shows above  but also

When I was there in November, I also found the door open several times. I put it back on the rail each time, just to find it off the rail again the following day. When it was on the rail, the door closed itself even without a pull.

We were the first to leave Nossop one morning in 2010 (had to be at Augrabies in time) when we came upon these ladies of leisure. They were lying flat in the road and the Landie had to go around them! Later got up and walked away in different directions.

Hope to see them again when we revisit end June 2014.

Sorry can not post the photo? Why?

Thanks for advice Lion Queen - still don't understand! I'm the generation BC ("Before Computers")
