The ever present Jackal at Cubitje Quap tried everything without success

First Leopard crawl

Then hide in the waterhole

I though the jackals were hilarious with their birding antics. The guys at Kwang were especially impressive and took a huge running jump to launch themselves into the waterhole.

This guy got some nice air!

Saw this one at Cubitje Quap recently. He'd obviously learned to be wary the hard way!

This is surely a scenario that few people have experienced . . . we we're having supper one evening arround a burnt out fire at a freezing Nossob a number of year ago when lamb chop bone fell from Susan's plate into the sand. . . . one of the three or four jackal, that were lying some meters away watching our every movement, made his move and came slowly creaping up to the bone in the sand . . . the last half-a-meter was a quick dask and grab . . . and I was very lucky to get such a clear shot with the flash.

Luckily these 'intruders' (near pests !) have been stopped by electric fences arround the camp subsequently . . . this pic is from our website http://www.reddune.info/
