For quite a while the Tsamma Land crèche situated in Twee Rivieren wasn’t in use and the staff's kids all had to go to Welkom after school, which also involved extra costs to the staff.

Since I have been back in KTP we started talking about re-opening the school to make life easier for the staff where their kids could go to after school to do their homework and actually have adult supervision and not run around in the streets. Since my SO have experience in running a crèche she took it upon her to get the school up and running with all the necessary planning etc.

So a few months passed and talking sessions have been had. The staff that came to hear of the possibility that the school might re-open was over the moon as they knew it would be so much better for the kids. Then we just got to a stage where we said now we will go full out and get it going, some local hands were used to clean the area and also to put up new shade nets and a fence around the school. A local teacher from Welkom School who lives with family in the park then put up her hand to get involved in the project is now the teacher of the school as well.

There is also the possibility that we will open up a 'baby room' by the end of the year which will have babies from 0-2 years, this will also make life easier for the parents as we will have a person looking after the babies while the parents are at work.

So in short we are very excited about this project and to see it grow and also to see the kids being very happy.

WOW good news, this is a very important step
knowledge is power and to start with children doing things together instead of hanging out on the street
No doubt the parents feel better in doing the job, knowning the children will be looked after

Might then not have space for the promised skaapboud or potjie for the Christmas lunch in Nossob, but sure you will understand!

Please let us know if there is ANYTHING you need for the school. We will be in KTP in December, but in Gauteng first, and will happily bring with what you feel is still needed.
