Hello everyone!

I was wondering if someone could please help out with some information regarding the bird hide at Mokala. I saw the following notice on the SanParks website:

Quote:
Important Notice:
The Bird Hide at Mokala National Park is closed until further notice.
Stofdam Bird Hide
The Stofdam bird hide had flood damage and some parts of it has washed away. We are busy rebuilding the hide and as such have to close it for any bookings until the end of June 2014. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Is the hide open again? We will be camping at Motswedi from 16-19 August and it would be great if it has been reopened,.

Thanks a lot! :)

:) Hi HippoPotty. :)

As far as i know, Stofdam Bird Hide will only be open again towards the end of August. :(

.....but Mokala has got a lot of other things to offer. Enjoy.

Aww, that's a pity. It seems like all the hides make themselves unavailable when we visit the parks (we were at Mapungubwe and Kruger last year and because of the floods, everything we were planning on seeing, was still closed). But thanks for the information, I'm sure we will see and do lots of other things! :)

When we visited Mokala (Mosu Lodge) on 15 & 16 September, the bird hide was still closed.

Hi all,

Further to last update in September, does anyone have any new information on the Mokala bird hide having been opened yet? We will be visiting early December and I imagine the birds will be amazing.

Thanks for any advice.
