Just a quick update for you guys watching this thread - got back yesterday after a quick week in the park - TR - KTC - TR ( 7 nights) ...

Sightings wise it was the quietest trip in the past 11 trips with not a single lion - heard them at TR and KTC, saw their spoor but they were in hiding as everyone was in the same boat and wondering where they were this past week . We were at KTC when a pride of 12 killed a gemsbok against the Botswana fence at Two Rivers and they could be seen from outside Jannies office  but otherwise nada .. No spotties either or brownies .. but 2 awesome honey badger sightings up near MM ... very few batties too and only just before returning to camp at night ...

There are huge herds ( 150 - 200 +) of springbok and wildebeest in both the Auob and Nossob rivers which great to see - saw many herds of over 50 gemsbok too which was the biggest we-ve ever seen - good cheetah still up near MM ( 7 different ones in 3 days ) plus leopard at 14th  - lots of suricate dens but they only come out late mornings as its REALLY cold...

Had stunning Bateleur and vulture sightings too which was great ...

Anyone going up soon - ENJOY - and hope the lions come out to play for you

Hi Jonkers :yaya: yip, afraid thats true  but I blame my daughter for this trip up ! Oh and someone told me not so long ago my heart is filled with red sand , so its not surprise really :D

Have a wonderful time next month - sure the wildebeest will still be there - we had so much fun watching them this time - they were really crazy - lots of running around chasing each other and doing silly dances and stuff - was really great ... oh and lots of nice youngsters too ... ENJOY !

ah anne-marie sorry sorry  - yes, we sat with Gertie's 3 cubs right next to the road for about an hour on Wednesday afternoon near Sitzas , then decided to go book a sunset drive  so we spent another hour and a half with them till it got dark ( Martin the guide at MM was very obliging and didnt mind us just sitting with the cheetahs ) .. when it got dark mom Gertie emerged from the bush she had been hiding in and took the cubs off to a huge tree across the riverbed to sleep in - they are all looking amazing !! Will post some photos for you soon I promise

Hi mites,

Not sure if I am posting in the right topic, but giving it a go. I read on the KTP fauna and flora link under mamals that Wild Dogs occur in KTP. Is this true and also have there been any photos taken of them?

Hi there,

Thanks Scouter, we will also be in the KTP in 10 days and always enjoy Cheetah's. Arrie and yourself saw the Cheetahs much closer to Mata Mata than what we use to.

Can you confirm that they were between Sitsas and Delkeith.

If you drive from Mata Mata to TR, the road give you the option to split to the left and then to join the road again a kilometer or so later. Were the Cheetah on the main road or on that splits?

Thank you,

Anton
