Thanx for the update KG! Hopefully this means the end of the bush fires as well!
Did rain fall throughout the park or just in the south?

Hi there,

It seems that rain has fallen in the largest part of the park. Cant wait to see how the burned areas will now become green.

I'm crossing my fingers for some of these spectacular thunder and lightening displays when I'm there between 1st and 8th November! Can't wait!

Great news - we there from Saturday for 2,5 weeks - cannot wait and now with the rain the veld will change. Week in Polentswa & week in South, hope to get few of those dramatic thunderstorms also :?

Morning all,

Good predator sightings all around Twee Rivieren.

Guest are almost certain of seeing a predator on every drive.

Last nights drive:

Lion, Porcupine and plenty General game

The lions have killed 5 Eland the last week at Houmoed, if you are in the park that would be the place to be.

Yesterday afternoon we had a taste of a hail storm (only lasted 10 minutes or so).

My fiancee and I are fortunate enough to spend our honeymoon in Kgalagadi from 22 October to 3 November 2012. We absolutely fell in love with the park after visiting it last year February for the first time.

Thanks for this very informative thread!

We look forward to this trip so much!

If you want to live a happily married life, you'll have to stop at TR to shake Jannie's hand!
(Not that you don't have a car full of stuff to deliver to him an' all! )

Hi Jen!

So Jannie is the "Four Leaf Clover" of the Kgalagadi?

May I rub his head and belly as well just to make sure the good luck rubs off? :D

I'll be sure to pop in and deliver my cargo.

Hi Fanatic - welcome to the forum.

Try and visit Tsammaland if you can - will definitely be one of the highlights of your trip.

Myles

Now I'm all embaressed... No idea what that is although I have a few boxes marked 'Tsammaland' so I guess this has something to do with the local children?

I'll search the web tomorrow for more info.

@Fanatic RSA,

No need to be embarrassed, once you have seen what Tsamma Land is and what it entails you will NEVER forget the experience or the kids.

For those in the park or very close to Twee Rivieren, the predators are all coming out to play. Last night our sunset and night drives were full of adventure and sightings. Lions were seen on a kill (Rooipouts), the Kij Kij pride played with the vehicle - they would run at it only to stop and turn back and then suddenly turn around again and full speed go for it again. Cheetah was also seen and then the general game including Eland.

As per the sightings board Lions were seen at Samevloeiing, Houmoed, Leeuwdrill and Rooiputs.

Good morning, Jannie! :D Sounds like sightings are hot at the moment.
Hope the critters stay put. Will be back on Sunday and can't wait
for the time to arrive...
