Just returned from a 6 day trip to my favourite park, we had some great sightings from south to north, below are some of our highlights:

Saturday 14th Dec PM:

5 Spotted Hyena between Leeudrill and Kij Kij
1 Male lion sleeping between Rooiputs and Kij Kij
2 Cheetah just north of Auchterlonie
1 Male lion sleeping just south of 14th
Puff adder in a bush between 13th and 14th

Slept at Urikaruus, waterhole was quiet for the hours we stayed up.

Sunday 15th Dec AM:

1 Brown hyena at 13th
1 Brown hyena feeding about 3 km before 14th
1 Male 1 Female and two adolescent lions at 14th waterhole (Youngsters where chasing doves and other birds near the water) When we returned 2 hours later the male was eating a baby springbok next to the road, not sure if anybody witnessed this?

Monday 16th Dec:

1 Leopard came to drink at Urikaruus camp at 4:45am but I missed it I was having a shower :?
5 Lions just south of Kwang, the adolescent was feeding on a Bat eared fox

Brown hyena, bat eared fox, cape fox and numerous jackals at Grootkolk

Tuesday 17th Dec:

Hi Evel,

Great to hear that the lions are still around Kwang and leopard between Kannagaus and Liijers draai. Last week there were lots of leopard activities there and wildebeest kills by leopards. I think the one is Safraan. Astromatt was at Grootkolk from 7 - 12 Dec if I am not wrong with my dates.

My SO took some pics of a lion near Rooiputs on 14th Dec, but I see you refer to 2 males. Did you see them on the Botswana road or closer to the lodge. At that time the road was closed towards Kij-Kij.

See the thread about Kgalagadi lions:

Lions of KTP

I was wondering when some-one will see a kill by lions near Nossob. we were there for 10 days and saw no kills, but lots of lion more interest in mating than eating.

Hi Son godin

Sorry it was only 1 Male we saw near Rooiputs, my initial post said Males but this was a mistype :? it was closer to the lodge on the main road before the Botswana road.

The kill we witnessed was pure luck, we were very surprised to witness it in the heat but it was a lone female that seemed to be pregnant or had cubs recently. Ill post some photos soon!

Cheers

Evel,

It must have been this one then that you spotted at Rooiputs:

Yes he loves a drink at the lodge or rest at the campsite.

Love to see more of your pics.

Wow! Son Godin!

He is so Handsome!

I am glad he feels at home at the Lodge (formal dinner party) and the camping site! (round the fire!)

Lindah, The only recent sightings in KTP link will be to go to the travel tails Here.

Another place to look in is Here where you will find various topics on specific KTP sightings.

Hope this will help

Just got out after 9 days- should have been 10 but had car trouble :0(
The scenery is magnificent- lots of green grass and wildflowers
Lotsof game about but alas for us a paucity of cat sightings- a lone cheetah in all that time
As Jock, the camp attendent at KK noted " the Kalahari is about luck and patience" we had the patience, not the luck
Others we talked to had the same experience; others did not
But I saw no stopped cars on my many drives to and from the camps as well as on morning and sunset drives which tells me that there wasn't stuff that we were missing
Despite that I want to return- perhaps in a less abundant time when the animals are not as dispersed and more dependent on the waterholes
Son Godin- talking about luck- apparently the AWC hangs out at chalet #3- we were in number 1 :0(
