We had 2 great brownie sightings, first thing in the morning at the 2R waterhole and on the sunset ride.

Not often you hear about leopard sightings from Mata Mata!
From Urikaruus yes...

More info on this? Has a non-people-shy leopard at last made his/her home near Mata Mata?

FYI a Caracal is very strong - they have been known to be able to take down impala.
Planning the next trip already...

leopard sightings from Mata Mata!
More info on this?

Very interesting Morkel777

Some info would be nice :
Who saw this and when - just once off ?

Would be great if a leopard (or two) moved to Mata Mata area

This is really interesting. :hmz:
Other than some historical sightings and leopards around 13th Borehole I really don't know of many leopards that go up as far as Mata Mata. I'd be really keen to get some proper reports of these leopards with some photos for the guide.
If anyone knows someone who's had one of these sightings then do please send them my website and ask them to post on the ID thread.

Please use the online form or download the spreadsheet to report leopard sightings.
You can also download a free copy of the identification guides for KTP and Augrabies.

The photo of the leopard at Mata Mata Reception is taken at Craig Lockhart waterhole. But have to agree I haven't heard of any sightings closer to Mata Mata :hmz:

Has anyone seen the lesser spotted KG lately or is he taking a well deserved break?

Was in KTP last week.
5 nts Urikaruus
2 nts Nossob

Had great antelope sightings.
Big herds in places and the animals are in fantastic condition.
Particularly good in the Aoub although more Red Hartebeest seen north of Nossob.
Big herd of Giraffe around 13th.
Also saw two kudu in the area.

Predators were fairly scarce.
Pregnant lioness at Urikaruus and a fleeting leopard sighting as well late at night.
The Cape Fox mum is around but did not see any of the cubs.
Saw the Cheetah mum with the three cubs walking in the riverbed near Kamqua and on a kill at the Ixaus turnoff.

The Nossob waterhole provided a brown hyena and Marie se Gat a big blackmaned lion travelling on his own.
The trip to Lijiersdraai gave us a glimpse of two young lions far away overlooking the riverbed.
Heard about a pride near Polentswa but could not find them.
The upper dune road provided four lions on the ridge near Eland that were taking some interest in a few Red Hartebeest.
The pan at Moravet is full of water and a first for me,a flamingo in KTP.

Plenty of Jackal but no Bat Eared Foxes or African Wild Cat and only few suricates.
Did not see any Spotted Hyena which is very unusual.

As expected raptor sightings were few but had some good owl sightings in Nossob camp.

The sightings boards generally reflected a quiet period.

The vegetation is pretty lush for this time of the year and there is even some green grass in the riverbeds after the good Easter rains.
