Thank you for the update KG.
I would love to see lions on a walk. Must be exciting :D
Maybe in October, we should do the walks at Twee Rivieren instead of Nossob!

What's the latest on rainfall in the park? I received word that it's still VERY dry? Is there a chance that the rains will pass over the park this season? Severe drought?

On Sunday morning / Saturday evening the lions killed a gemsbok 20m outside of Twee Rivieren camp gate. They are still closeby and visit the carcass every now and then.

Regards

I came back from KTP yesterday after a week long visit. Morkel777 - yes it is very dry in KTP

It is extremely dry in Mata Mata region, only a little more vegetation close to Urikaruus, Nossob also very dry but not as severe as Mata Mata, some parts near Gharagab looks good and there is plenty of Gemsbok, Rooi Hartbeest etc in the dunes. Haven't been to Twee Rivieren area during this trip.

Sightings-wise with good photo opprtunities - one of the worst I had - but still plenty experiences and still an excellent trip. Lions in Camp at Gharagab next to our hut (both nights), rival hiena gangs fighting and waking us up at Nossob (unbelievable ca cony of sounds going straight through you at night !!) - Jackals doing areal displays in their quest to catch Sand Grouse, sometimes up to 5 Bateleurs at waterhole etc etc - I just love KTP !!!

Oh as a Ps. The sounds of people squirming at Urikaruus regarding the commotion of the bats in the roof at night is priceless !!! We had a poor guy next door chasing the sounds with his torch all night long on the very pitched (scared) toned instructions of his wife

Luckily the rain has come by now and the Kalahari is wet and starting to green up.
Judging by the Nossob webcam the rain still continues and I hope it'll last for some time.

As for the bats in Uri... They definitely were in unit 1. SO & I evacuated at least 60 of them
during the first two days of our stay...

Jannie, I'll sent you the invoice for our work soon.

There is a lot of water puddles at the moment, so the game is spread out.

Should be dried up by the end of the weekend.

Nossob info board showed 77mm of rain for the week.

Sightings during the rain were very sparse.

Thanks for all the updates to now.
The last one was a week ago.
Any news from the park for this week?
Jannie?

I have the option to perhaps come for a quick week end of April! Want to get a feel for the current dynamics
