Dear forumites,

I'd like to ask people in the forum who are experienced in KTP to tell me if I will find mirrors in the bathrooms in all the camps below. That's because I use contact lenses and have to use a mirror to put them.... If I do not find mirrors in all camps, I will need to buy a small mirror.

Twee Rivieren
Kieliekrankie
Kalahari Tented Camp
Nossob
Gharagab
Grootkolk

I think so, otherwise use the mirror of the vehicle!

Practise without using mirrors. I can put mine in anywhere (where it is not windy) in near dark now.

Dear Jonkers and Bush Baptist,
I don't like putting them without mirrors, and don't plan to put it in the car mirror, outside, so, I would like to know, still, if there are mirrors in the bathrooms in the cited camps. Otherwise, I will buy a small travel mirror here in Durban, but as I am carrying already a lot of stuff, I am trying to avoid extra things....

Again I think so, normally there is a mirror in a chalet.

Looks like we'll be in the KTP at the same time - I'm just as excited as you sound and am also interested in the answers to your questions.

In addition, can anyone tell me if there are any problems with fuel supplies or payment for fuel and goods from the shop with petrol / credit cards?

Hello, checked your dates, will be at Nossob on 8 & 9th at the same time as you will, hope to meet! White Pajero with a trailer. We ended up booking an overnighter at Kathu, so will just be at the park later than we hoped the next day. Believe from the AA that the road works are still a delay of about 2 hours extra. Sorry can't answer your other questions as we're 1st timers...hopefully no issues...saw somewhere that at Petrol cards are fine. See you soon and enjoy it

Dear LauraC,
I will be also in Nossob from June 6th-8th. Maybe we meet there, we will be in a Toyota SRX with the yellow ribbon. Don't know the color yet, since it is a rented car....

Hi Kwabo0802

Thanks for your pm - couldn't reply to it via email so here it is:

Only 130 days until we leave for SA then a further 6 until we go to KTP! So excited - our first visit to this park. Not sure what we will be driving yet - still debating whether to go for a 4x4 or a 2x4 Nissan Xtrail. Will definitely look out for you

Regards

Jane and Finbar

Some advice please. I’m visiting Kgalagadi soon and will be staying at Nosob. 1. Are diesel and firewood fairly available at Nosob? 2. Driving from Pta I need to sleep over close to the park. Can anyone recommend a decent place that is not too expensive in that area?

Hi Herman,

1. Diesel is (usually) available at Nossob, and firewood also. But I would fill up every time I pass a petrol station, and take wood, which is plentiful, from 2R.
2. Why not plan to leave Pta in time to get to 2R before gate closing, and stay there rather. We leave CT at 2h00 and get there easily in time for a short drive before closing.
Whatever (according to BB): "You are correct but I don't want to admit it".

Last year (my first time) I took wood for 10 braais, but my back was finished after a few days loading and un loading the wood. I saw the Mata Mata restcamp and Nossob restcamp had some wood.

Do the above camps have some wood currently or should I rather bring wood with me?

I will be at Mata Mata in +- 8 days :cam:

last time, in March 2013, I took with me 5 packets of wood, in case of I can't find anything in the park.
At the three main camps, there was wood

But the problem stays the same... for several days/weeks... the back don't like wood... bought at Upington or elsewhere
