Mistral and icurrie - we were in No 1 for 4 nights when you were there (luckily the hyenas never got to our car) and just to make you  this is what you missed at 8.30 the morning of your departure! Two large, very pale male lions came to drink at the waterhole. One had been tatooed with a T to mark him as a troublemaker! When a female arrived they followed her to No 4 and after some interaction the one male was chased off and the second lay next to the female waiting to claim his prize. We took some great shots from no 4.ImageImageImage
Please let me know if theses images are too big -I'm not very good with Photobucket

Very nice pics pamelajane. You were lucky! :)

We found the game better in the south than the north.

How was Grootkolk??????????

Thanks Mistral - we had plenty of game at Grootkolk so I can't say we found the south better but I guess having a waterhole makes all the difference as we had everything coming to us! Our drives were not as productive but we just missed cheetah and lion sightings . At camp we saw Brown hyena, haartebees, gemsbok, kudu, eland, wilderbees and leopard. We heard the lions but never saw them -others found them at Unions End.What we had was large herds of wilderbees, about 10 kudu and hartebees coming throughout the day to drink so pretty similar to Urikaruus. We found Nossob a great dissapointment as the waterhole was dry for the two nights that we were there but we were lucky to see mating lions close to the road just out of camp so not too bad. :hmz:
