We had a Pearl Spotted Owlet come visit us in the tree by our unit (13) in Twee Rivieren Camp!!

It's the only owl we've ever seen in either KTP or Kruger, so we were thrilled.

Do you know if there is a map online anywhere that shows the numbered boreholes? I'd love to map out all these sightings before we go so we know where to look and when.

I wonder if the 'strain' of king cheetah is in Kgalagadi?

Anyone seen one there?

As far as I know, king cheetahs have only ever been recorded in south-east Botswana, southern Zimbabwe and the far north and north-east of SA - never in the Kalahari. But it can't be beyond the realm of possibility. I'd guess the open habitat would make it tough for such a visible animal to survive, though.

Here is the answer from Dr gus Mills:

"As far as i know king cheetahs have never been observed in the Kalahari. In fact the genes seem to be confined to the Zimbabwean, South African and Eastern Botswana Lowveld region, although about 15 years ago a skin was recorded from Burkina Faso in North Africa! "

Probably a silly Question, but does anyone know if an otherwise healthy looking striped mouse can carry rabies?

I was bitten on my toe by a Striped mouse in Grootkolk - I guess it thought my toe was food! There were several around the tree of unit 3 and this bit me while I was sitting quietly still wathicng the waterhole.
