Hi Lionspoon,

I was with VVV when we had this great sighting!! We must have missed one another!!

We saw them just before and in the big storm the afternoon of the 23rd. Actually our pics were taken in the rain!

When we arrived, there were 3 vehichles standing. We were told that there were cheetah but we just missed them... The vehicles left, and she appeared again!!! She crossed the road twice, and then it started raining!! They huddled together and we watched them for more than half an hour! VVV has an amazing video clip where they started to dry themselves.

It was an amazing sighting!

I've got a lot of "inside legs" pictures and will send to Dr. Gus Mills :)

I'm looking forward to know who is who :D

A quick question - does anyone know if Durbyl has a collar and if she still has all 4 cubs?

Hi Jo,

I know VVV got an email from Guss Mills a few weeks ago to say that she have all 4 still and that all 4 cubs are males.

I assume the collar is still on...

Thanks Katy...it was an amazing experience to sit there and take as many pictures as we want!!! I also posted a video under our TR - Gemmies, Gommies and PCG's - where the little family are busy grooming each other. :D

We had a collared mother and four large cubs outside of Mata Mata on August 18th. Only terrible photos as they were up on the dune across the river bed way way far away!

Does anyone know which cheetah this would be?

Could have been Lisette. She used to be around 13th / 14th borehole when we were there in April, but she seems to have moved further up. According to Mybs' TR (trip in the middle of June) Lisette must have 4 cubs as well:

Hi all

We saw the 5 of them on Monday 05 Sep 2011 fairly close to Urikaruus. They all looked very healthy.

We followed the mother and four cubs on along the road and while they walked in the river bed for a long time, until they eventually came across a few springbok. The 5 of them seem to work as a team. The mother was about 30 meters ahead on the road, hiding. A coouple of the cubs walked towards the springbok from next to our car. The springbok looked very confused. They distracted the springbok so the mother to chase into them and make the kill. I was on the wrong side of the car so I don't have any pics of the kill but have a few of the cubs and mother. I will try post them in the next week or so.

Another person at the sighting said to us they also killed the day before.

Regards
