Looks good to me.

Where will you be coming from and going to?

welcome to the forum lasabbry :D

 going to Kgalagadi... soon... very soon

you have to reserve in advance, the places (chalet/rooms/cabins) fly away very fast

seems to be super, but just coming from Upington airport is a little bit short, after me
and don't forget the way from Mata Mata (or KTC is the same) is long to... Upington

but better short than nothing

Thank you for the welcome!!!
I know, it's not enough time but I can't take other holidays!
And we will spend two days on the plain, from Milan, Italy...

Do you think is possible to do Mata-Mata - Upington in one day? I hope to find the flight that takes off at 17.20.

if you run a little bit, yes for the flight of 17.20

but, with this one, you can catch an international flight :hmz:

for me... I had to change with the 11h15 plane ... :?

anne-marie, there are very late flights from johannesburg, so the 17.20 will be perfect!

Good day

We plan a trip to Kgalagadi next year. We thought of September. Don't want to go during rain season because we do camping in a ground tent. Do you think September is ok or will you recommended a beter month.

We thought of : 2 nights at TR
3 nights at Mata Mata
3 nights at Nossop
1 or 2 nights at TR

It will be our first visit and have no idea if we will stay to short/long in one camp.

September is a very good time - if you can get in.

It is not as 'civilised' as Kruger. Your itinerary is great for the first time.

Hello to all

Coming to Kgalagadi in May 2014 from the US and have question on booking for the wilderness camps.

I see online booking starts later.

There is a request form that sends an e mail to SanParks, would this be timely enough or do I need to telephone and what time of day is best for that.

As this is my 60th birthday treat do not want to miss out on the wilderness camps.

Thanks for your help
Bridget

Welcome to the forum tusk.

Bookings start 11 months in advance.

I would send an email on 1 June.

My choice would be Urikaruus and Grootkolk, but if you can stay at the lot, why not!

Just remember you need a 4x4 to go to Bitterpan & Gharagab.

Thanks BB

Was thinking
2R for late arrival ...... travelling from and back to family in little old Springs, Gauteng
Nossob 2 nights to enjoy a drive and possibly walk
KTC 2 nights
Urikaruus 3 nights
2R last night for early departure back to family

Would love to go to Grootkolk but a bit wary of the long travel times, used to Kruger with its tar roads when in a bit of a hurry. Also want to leave enough time to just sit and be at one with nature.

Question on the honeymoon tent at KTP (for my son and daughter-in-law who will be coming with). I hear it is a bit far from the waterhole, any further info on that will be welcome. Otherwise I read #7 and 8 are good.

Also a question on the shops. Keep reading on the limited amount of groceries. Typically we would buy lamb wors, marinated chicken(flatties),beetroot salad, curried green bean salad in cartons, some canned fruits (guavas),ultramel, fruit juice, coffee, tea, sugar. Usually bring lots with us but occasionally run out. Can you give me any info on that.

Thanks a lot

welcome to the forum tusk :D

at KTP the best view is from No 5 (as per the keeper)
but the tent No 1 (honeymoon) is the best tent  nobody both side

for grocery and all you need, better to do shoping at Upington (or elsewhere before)
try to stay once in a camp with electricity, once without etc...
