We leave for 2 weeks in the Wilderness Camps shortly. Please can anyone advise if eggs are generally available at the main camp shops (I cannot remember)?

I also saw mention somewhere that you cannot bring firewood into the park? On previous visits we bought firewood in Upington and took it in with us with no problem. Has this regulation changed?

Thanks for any advice!

4 nights Urikuruus
4 nights Grootkolk
2 nights Gharagab
1 night Bitterpan
3 nights Kielie Krankie

Hi Bethj2306 and a warm welcome to the forum........... :gflower:

Yes eggs are available.

We've always taken firewood with us from Upington. The problem is when you enter from Namibia.

Enjoy the trip and many happy sightings!!

Hi arriving Kgalagadi in 3 weeks flying from Jhb so will be shopping in Upington. Lists most helpful.
But do I have to buy meat in Upington? Is there any meat available in the camp shops? I will be staying for 7 nights and will only have a cooler bag. So no opportunity to freeze and keep meat over 7 days. Thanks :)

Hi. Bush fan,

Can't answer about availability of meat at the park shops. I am not sure which camps you are staying in, but most have fridge/freezer.

Last time we went to KTP, we emailed a butcher in Upington with a meat order. This was packed and frozen for us. All we had to do was pay and pick it up. I think it was Skaapland Butchery. Maybe Lion Queen will have some more info.

I bought some meat in Nossob 2 weeks ago and also at the farm stall across the border f4om Mata Mata. Just tell the guys at the border you are going there and take a stroll It is abou 800 metres from the Mata Mata gate if that. What accomodation will you be using? The bungwlows and tents have freezers

there is, sometime, meat at TR, Nossob and/or MM, but big packs (I travel alone) and like fire and braai is the most common in the park and in SA (in my opinion) better to have something to put on
