The leopard magnet, aka Sharifa, is back in KTP in July....

But I hope we get number 50 before then.

We heard about this during our December stay and wondered whether the story was true.........thank you for sharing!!!

We saw Gertie the next day with the 3 cubs, all four of them well....

We also saw them the following day at 13 waterhole on the move in the heat. Who did you hear the story from, we were the only vehicle at the sighting, we might have told you :D

Hi Evel,

I must confess I have no idea who the people were, they were staying at KTC and we at MM, saw them daily at Gertie sightings and got to chat to each other later on......we were it a white Toyota D/C and they in a silver SUV.

Aaaaah we told the couple in the silver SUV the morning of the 16th Dec, its great that the story travels

I have added more photos to my post :D

Ha ha! We were the "couple in the silver SUV"! Small world! :D Great to have met you, Evel and Lion Queen.

I just received a great sighting from Andreas Schenke.
On the 3rd March just a few hundred metres north of the lower dune road turn off he spotted Warona coming out of a cave and along the calcrete ridge. He didn't see the Auchterlonie female but he heard they have been seen together. Here are a few of the photos he managed to get.

I was getting a bit worried for a while since no one had seen them....very relieved.
The sighting was at about 5pm.

Both were seen a few times at the end of Feb/start of March.

Friends saw them 28 Feb, and I saw mum and cub 1 March. Mum had made a kill and stashed it behind the tree. The cub ate for a good couple of hours before wandering over to bother mum who was trying to nap in the shade (it was well over 40C).

Hi Wanderw

Yep, have already sent AstroMatt details.
Pics are lousy - far away and deep shade, unfortunately.

Just saw the new site! Hoorah.

Thanks for sending through the sighting jenand  It's so great to know they are both doing well.
I don't think your picture is as bad as you make out...its really nice to see the two together and gives us a sense of how big a 5 month old cub is compared to her mother.
I know everyone would love to see it

ok. Here's a pic of the Auchterlonie female and Warona. Apologies it's not great, but they wouldn't come any closer or get out of the shade. (I waited for more than 2 hrs just to be able to get them in the same pic as it was)
