Ok....sorry for the long wait....but to continue.....

Will come back to the previous sighting....seemed not to have loaded the rest of the pics...

We had decided to spend the day in camp at Urikaruus on 3/8/2012....we were relaxing on the verandah, reading our books at about 10h40, when some movement to the right of the waterhole caught my eye....

Image

She wandered up to the waterhole...

Image

And then she proceeded to enjoy a long drink....

Image

She then got a little nervous...and with a last look, she jumped up and disappeared over the back ridge!!!

Image

Needless to say, we didn't move from the verandah for the rest of the day!!

More to come...

Tanks for all the comments....and once again sorry for the wait

Back to the 2/8/12...with the first pic of Tsamma....after she had finished drinking, she headed past unit 4, crossed the road, and sat down near a bush....staring intently up the slope. She sat there for a good 5 min.....we started to wonder if she had gone into a trance.... :wiz:

And then she pounced.....and took off after a bat-eared fox!!!
Unfortunately my video skills did not match my excitment   ....but on the video below you can sort of see their tails streaking past....if you use your imagination....and replay it a few times!! We were all standing on the elevated walk way that connects the units....and our next door neighbours and my mom were able to confirm, with binocs, that she did indeed catch the bat-eared fox and then carried it in to the shrubs at the top of the slope.....this I did not catch on the video....it was too quick and I was looking in the wrong place!!!!

Thanx Jo for a peek into the life of a leopard!  I can imagine your excitement, poor batty though. :( They seem to feature quite a bit on a leopard's menu.

We had another visit from a different leopard during our stay at Urikaruus...she was bigger than Tsamma and only came at night (as far as we know!!)

Her first visit while we were there was on our first night there....and true to form, the video camera was new, I hadn't used it yet      ....and by the time I had it on and knew which buttons to push....she was gone!!!

She was at the water hole and then walked between units 2 and 3, through the car park and then under the camp managers unit, up the hill and gone. This was at about 8pm.

She did visit us again.....2am on 4/8/12......we were woken up by a bat-eared fox going bananas....and after the previous days interaction between Tsamma and bat-eared fox.....we jumped out of bed.....and there she was at the water hole.....the other leopard! Now to find the video.......get it on...... :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: ....focus.......leopard gone!! She had walked through under the walk way again......so out back we went......Now for the page to turn....
