I fully agree, Meandering Mouse. I got myself a copy a few months ago and what is unique about this book is the Shem's photography rating out of 10 on a subject i.e. landscape, birds, mammals, predators, big5 and overall experience. For each of these subjects a rating is applied pertaining to criteria such as abundance, viewing and photography potenial.

Furthermore, it highlights the photo skill level required together with the equipment you may need and then also any other info regarding accessibility, cost value and popularity. Besides the background detail on a spot it provides a view from a photographers eye if you want to visit a spot. I am enjoying the book and when plan to visit a an area, first consult this guide.
There are some spots not covered by this book, but the most popular ones are. This is not a book that looks at all the different spots in Kruger as Kruger is sumarised as one 'spot'.
