Can anyone recommend a good book for a 9-yr old boy, with pictures or animals and plants he can tick off as we visit the parks? He doesn't speak English so texts are not essential, other than the animal name.

I am sure the range found in the parks shops by Andy Tinker has something like that. Also the Find It series.

Thanks - will search for these titles.
(Micetta - that one is for birds only, looking for something more general).

KTP has a lovely one which we saw at the shop in Twee Rivieren. Will try to find out who it was by, although it was geared to KTP.

There is a wonderful series of books for children in the form of work books where they can draw in, lots of pictures, puzzles, etc. A4 format, and each book has a different theme, i.e. birds, mammals, rivers. I cannot remember the name, but have seen it in a couple of KNP shops.

I've had a look at my copy of 'Andy and Lorrain Tinker's Kruger National Park Map'. Its quite nice pictures of mammals, birds, snakes and some photos of trees. It has a big tick list separate to all the pictures, but my niece and nephew just ticked by the pictures when they went. You should be able to buy it at any gate.
