I just finished reading the book "The elephant whisperer" from Lawrence Anthony & Graham Spence (ISBN 978-0-283-07087-7) and it is another book that I really enjoyed reading and want to recommend.

In 1999 Lawrence Anthony was asked to accept a herd of troubled elephants on his game reserve (Thula Thula in Zulu land). They would all be killed if Lawrence wouldn't take them. This book is about what happened. Sometimes funny, sometimes sad. It's not only about the elephants but also about the daily life in a game reserve.

I saw a very nice revue on this book over the weekend - it would appear to be a worthwhile read.

It's a very worth while read.

A friend gave me this book to read and I'm halfway through it and loving it. It's a lovely conservation story and gives insight into elephant behaviour that is fascinating. Another great book on the subject is Elephant Memories: Thirteen Years in the Life of an Elephant Family by Cynthia Moss, who studied them in Kenya’s Amboseli National Park for nearly 30 years.

I was given this book for my birthday....... and it nearly ruined my Christmas It was one of those books that grips from the start... almost impossible to put down. I started reading it on Christmas eve and nearly didn't leave my room early Christmas morning

Entertaining, thought provoking, insightful.. with prose that is often extremely poetic.

I have come away so much more informed about these amazing creatures and so sad at our legacy of cruelty and killings. For anyone with a bit of spare cash and wanting a bit of reading pleasure... do yourself a favour, pop into your local book store, right now.

Mrs. Stark got this for me as a Christmas present. I'm less than a dozen pages in and already hooked!

I finished reading the book yesterday and I was really so sorry when when I reached the last chapter. Its one of those books that has shifted my thinking, really enriched me... and best of all, easy to read. The book says some of the most profound things in the simplest way..

I havent read the book but have seen it in all the Exclusive Book stores I have been to lately.

Finished the book...fascinating. I highly recommend this book to any and all bush lovers.

Besides giving a book about a herd of elephants, the book gives a glimpse into the day to day of starting up and running a reserve. The insight into local and Zulu politics was interesting.

All in all, I didn't want the book to end.

I also just finished this book. WOW WOW WOW what a great book. I loved every bit of it. Really recommend it to any animal/nature/elephant lover.
