Books on the Kruger

Unread postby PaulEdge » Sun Sep 20, 2009 3:58 pm

I am trying to purchase some books on the Kruger - I have heard that the Prime origins exploring the Kruger & the killer birds of the Kruger are really good. I don't seem to be having any luck with the mainstream bookshops & was wondering whether there were any specialist stores that I should try - alternatively are these books available in the KNP shops up north?

Hi Paul
Both the books you mention were available in the camp shops last time I was in KNP. Exclusive books usually has copies of the Prime Origins books. If they don't have they will usually order for you

Paul - I thoroughly recommend "Exploring Kruger" - Prime Origins and have found lots of useful and very interesting information on Kruger.

However, when trying to buy another copy recently, for a friend, I found most shops in my area (Fourways, Northgate, Cresta etc) were out of stock and no-one seemed to know when they would be getting more stock.

A "sister" publication "Best Birding in Kruger" is also very good, if you are at all interested in birds.

I would certainly try very hard to get a copy of "Exploring Kruger".

Don't know when and if the Prime Origins would be re-printed.
It was found to contain a lot of incorrect information and they just had their facts all wrong. Still it is not all bad.
Who knows, they might do a complete revamp and reprint at some later stage.
Getaway has got an excellent guide that contains a lot of the info found in Prime Origins. Maybe have a look at that.
