"Ecological Intelligence" by Ian McCallum

Unread postby AFRICAT » Mon Aug 17, 2009 9:10 pm

May I humbly recommend this wonderful book to all who wish to be able to articulate either to their own souls or to others, why humans NEED to reconnect to Nature. It is a book that melds science and poetry, just as our brains and souls do so. The author is a doctor, psychiatrist, and former Rugby Springbok...and he puts forth the argument that reconnecting with our evolutionary past will lead us down the road of reconciliation and connection to all that truly matters

As we sit out under the African sky, no matter what particular Park, we do feel such profound connections, and this book, to me, embraces those feelings and gives homage to them.

Thanks AFRICAT for the info.

I have known Ian for nearly 50 years (was at boarding school with him).
He is a very interesting and multi-faceted person who also did a chiropractic qualification, and managed a lodge in the Okavango Swamps for a number of years. He is also one of the most humble and genuine people who I have ever met.

I will certainly look for his book :D

Wow. Lucky you, and he, as I'm sure he also gained from his association with you. Your posts are insightful, funny, and warmly endearing...perhaps he learned from you as well.

  AFRICAT - no way, he is about 4-5 years older than I am, and was 3 classes ahead of me. Doubt that he learnt anything at school from me. If I may say something about Ian, life threw him a few curved balls which may have helped  shape him into the person he became. :)
