Does anybody know if the Custos magazine is still around. I used to get it for years and years back in SA. It was a great mag all about the parks and wildlife.

Haven't seen it in a long time. I don't think it's printed anymore.

I quickly had a look. The Custos was the official magazine for the old National Parks Board. It went out of print when the National Parks Board was replaced by SANParks. Maybe Danie can tell us why it wasn't replaced?

They do have a newspaper in the camp shops called 'Kruger Times' which is very informative. I think it's a monthly issue.

We try to get it. Very interesting to read.

I think you'll find that Custos is still here albeit in electronic form and on this site. I remember reading it when I was young and finding very informative.

Yup. Globally viewable and info can be updated on a daily basis.

Man, that was years ago...I was still a kid when that magazine was out....

I also think that custos was discontinued quite a while back and the Kruger Times has replaced it recently.

A great mag indeed! You're not that old, I've got 2 or 3 copies at home and I am still under 30. I also buy the Kruger Times everytime when I visit there. Great reading material and great replacement for custos.

For many years the highlight for us on entering the Kruger Park was to be handed our complimentary copy of Custos. Over a period of years we devoured every word printed therein and even suscribed to this most worthy publication. Then a couple of years ago they pocketed out subscribtions and just summarily discontinued the magazine (they being Penta Publications). We asked for our money to be refunded but were told that instead a knew better publication was being launched - well need I say it this never happened. Much to our delight we discovered that a new newspaper had been launched in the Park. Once again we were thrilled to read all the interesting articles contained therein. We immediately contacted the publishers asking them to send us regular copies and to find out how to pay them. We have e mailed them, written to them and phoned them and to no avail they just do not reply to any written applications to subscribe to their publication - has anyone else experienced the same problem.

BTW I have every copy of Custos sent to me over the years that we subscribed to it.
