Now that most of the Cape Pennisula is included as part of TMNP, this slim volume becomes very much a sort-of park guide. Have no idea whether it is still in print, but it covers the basics, and I carry it with me everywhere when I am in the Cape. It includes sections on mammals, birds, reptiles, frogs, freshwater fishes, marine fishes, marine invertebrates, land and freshwater invertebrates, butterflies and moths, trees and woody shrubs, ericas, soft-stemmed plants, restios, and seaweeds, plus sections on geology, various types of habitat, fynbos, and climate. If it is no longer in print, it would be a great little book to re-issue. I have found it to be immensely useful.

I can really recommend this little book very highly. I have found it to be invaluable, especially for a neophyte or an infrequent visitor. It's a great way to learn about the amazing variety of fauna and especially flora of the Cape — a great introduction.
