Thought I would share a sunset with you all from my "stoep".

Here they are playing in the dam behind the house.

Meet the neighbours.

Anne Marie, there has been a hippo sighting on this river:

taken on my daily dog walk

Image

this is a seasonal dam that dries up when there is not enough rain.

This is a frequent visitor though.

I am the manager of a private game reserve in the Eastern Cape, SA.
Many people asked me to show them where I work and stay.
I'll start with the view as you drive up to my house.

Well where do I start????!!! :hmz:

I suppose you could say we are nomads!!

May-Oct we live in our own 4 bed detached house just inside The Brecon Beacons National Park.........an area of great beauty on the Welsh Border in the UK.
I have a laptop, and sit in our lounge perched on the sofa to do all my forums posting.
We have a really small garden (SOs least favourite pastime!!) but have blue and great tits and golden finches visiting our bird table, and squirrels who eat what the birds drop on the floor.

Nov-Jan we live in a rented cottage in Phalaborwa Limpopo Province.
it has 2 bedrooms/bathrooms, and an open plan lounge/diner/kitchen.
Again I perch on the sofa with my laptop!!
There is a pool (necessary on hot days!!) and a lovely garden where many beautiful birds visit. (Paradise flycatcher, kingfishers, mousebirds, blue waxbills, barbets etc etc!!)
We visit Kruger almost every day via the Phala gate!!

Feb-April we live in a rented cottage in Port Edward KZN.
It has 2 bedrooms/bathrooms and an open plan lounge/diner/kitchen.
It has a wonderful sea view which is why we come here, and we occasionally see a whale go by.
Again I perch on the sofa with my laptop!!

Now you know!!
Thinking of Africa every day.

Koedoe you are also making me very Jealous     !!!!!! I live in a 1 bedroom garden cottage at the back of a house in Johannesburg. I have lounge/ kitchen combined, a bathroom with ball and claw bath ,shower and toilet and a bedroom. The cottage was refurbished/ redecorated a few years ago and is very nice! Sort of like Cape Dutch but without the curly bits! on an 1/8 th acre plot so very small garden, but we have peach, pear, avocado and pomegranate trees (1 of each)in the garden and a small splash pool that looks like a fish pond at the moment!! We have a smallish area of lawn and flowers. There are a lot of birds!! They are awake early now that it is summer---0400am!!!The house is on a very busy road so we hear traffic all day long and at night the street lights block out any sight of stars :( :( :( Its a corner stand so we watch people walking past all the time.

Here are a few pics of our house and vegie garden.

Here is part of the vegie garden looking towards the end of the house.
We still have pumpkin (about 3 varieties), rockmelon, tomatoes, cucumber, carrots, parsnips, strawberries, red cabbage, rhubarb, zucchini and beans. Some are nearly finished now. Just planted some more red and brown onions, some brussel sprouts and some chinese cabbage and broccoli.

This is a bit of the living area of our house. As you can see, it is not your normal conventional house!

These were found locally by an unknown local artist. My SO bought them for me.

Here is my messy but functional kitchen.

I take my dogs for a walk every morning on a farm track. After some recent rains I was greeted by this beautiful sunrise made all the more special by the mist. I thought that I would share it with you.

Here is our house and front yard during a snowy winter

and here it is again in spring

We love our garden space in front, and both wish we had more time to keep it looking good, but work seems to get in the way!
Just a few of the flowers
