MM, just another reason why I love the Kruger so much because you just never know what you are going to experience next :hmz: :hmz: :o :o

Grantmissy, Tent Dweller, OWN

I often stop at Bobbejaan Krans for my morning coffee when I stay at Tambotie. One morning I heard a terrible racket on the roof of my car. There was no doubt that some creature was giving clear communication that it was not prepared to be ignored.

I looked down to see an indignant bush chicken waiting.

Those "bush chickens" are so part of the Kruger and he or say could not resist saying hello to you :D .

Trrp, morning is my favorite part of the day and in Kruger it is pure magic.

Grantmissy, that they do

One late December, I took a bunch of newbies, young adult newbies, with me to Kruger. We camped at Punda.

Much to my suprise no one could do my early mornings. :hmz: I ended up doing many, many solitary drives. I did not mind in the least.

This is a picture one misty morning on the Mahonie Loop.

MM, I am a very early riser normally BUT when on holiday in the Kruger I rise earlier than what I do at home, your photograph is wonderful

:) that pic of the misty morning on the Mahonie Loop is good MM. I think on misty mornings the Kruger veldt is a bit more quiet than usual and I always think we will see some of those elusive animals on those mornings like a brown hyena or a Suni in the Punda area. No luck so far  Maybe next time.

So true, for myself that is . I can sit on the stoep at 03:30 in the morning all by myself drinking coffee whilst the rest are still very much asleep :)

Tent Dweller, Grantmissy

This was not early morning, but it was certainly early enough for a flask of something good. Pafuri Picnic site is a bit far for ''real early''.

There had been lots of excitement the previous day at Pafuri.

The reason?

A Nyala had given birth at the site and hidden her calf in the bushes.

I drove through the next morning hoping to see the little one.

Mom was a bit shy, but I managed to get a picture of the little one suckling.

Indeed a great photo MM of a not so often seen Kruger animal. The suckling new born makes the photo even more great. Kruger never fails in providing special moments.

Jeanni give me a moment of new life any day. I don't do well with kills.

Grantmissy, absolutely

Here comes another special moment.

I had been staying the night at Pretorius Kop and had experienced a trip where everything that could go wrong, did go wrong.

I was driving towards Mestel dam feeling very sick and very sorry for myself. Not even my flask of coffee seemed enticing.

Suddenly there was a Kruger moment. A car came towards me...very slowly...and I knew that something exciting was about to happen.

A beautiful Cheetah :D

The sighting was all to brief, but it changed my mood dramatically. Kruger had given me a little early morning gift. 8)
