My question is what critter that has eluded you and you would love to see the most?

I would love to see a Caracal. I looked in ever rocky outcrop we came to but no never saw one. :(

CRITTER= Any size of the animal kingdom

Shushin I always wanted to see the Reedbuck in Kruger but so far I have never seen one. A forum member advises the Munthse Loop and I will do just that during our next visit in July.

I would also like to see the Riverine Rabbit in the Karoo National Park.

Other critters that I would like to see are Shrew’s which I guess are well represented in all of SA’s National Parks. I see there are different species of Shrew’s. In Afrikaans we call them Klaasneuse :D

This can be anything your heart wishes to see. :D

Since we're only talking "critters" and not "birds" (or do birds also count as "critters"?) ....

1. Black-footed cat
2. Aardwolf
3. And decent serval and caracal sightings!

After 30 years of visiting game reserves, I finally saw Caracal at Addo in January!
My list:
- Pangolin
- Aardwolf
- Serval

I've been lucky enough to have seen most of the other rarer larger mammal species

Pangolin.

Got to see others on desirable list in the last year.

My quest to see a Black Rhino continues. It's slightly big for a 'critter' but it's definitely number one on my list.

Side Striped Jackal made an appearance near P/Kop for us last year and we've lucky enough to see Serval hunting (have this on video) near Lower Sabie and then again on a night drive in Satara.

I'll admit that this thread is a huge tease

My biggest "critter" I wanted to see was Duke, but he has eluded me and now I will only see his tusks (when they go on display). My family members saw him several times but I was never with them, either not on that trip, or the one day I was as sick as a dog.

I have marked a big one off this week with a sighting of honey badger and porcupine. Aardwolves and pangolin are now high on my list. Along with side striped jackal, serval, narina trogon and the Egyptian vulture that is floating around the S28.

I can only second that Jock - Simply my thoughts 100% but you forgot the Pel's Fishing owl

So very true Pumbaa, that would be amazing.

Having done a few night drives I am fortunate to have seen a fair few porcupines, servals and civets. White tailed Mongoose has also been regularly seen on such night drives at both Lower Sabie and Satara over the years.

I have long had a Blackie on my list. With the increased pressure on this horned beauty I doubt I'll ever see one roaming free. That won't stop me from looking with eyes wide open.
