To be honest, I think that they thrashed us. Not many players around nowadays who can take the hammering that Michael Clarke took on Saturday and go on to play such a big innings. None in SA anyway. And Smith reckoned that he was going to have a word with David Warner on the field about the things he's been saying. Well, that may have been a bad idea. Warner had quite a lot of fun with the SA bowlers.

But I must say that I am so excited to see aggressive bowling coming back into the game.

Correct moobox.

6 months ago we were the best team in the world and the Aussies took a pasting in England.

What ta turn around. They played with the confidence and swagger of world champions, and we cowered.

With Smith and Kallis gone, it is a great opportrunity for others to step up and grab the opportunities.

BB,
Wasn't exactly a pasting.
The Aussies did lose the Test series, but 2 of them were quite close. Those results could have gone either way... and it would have been a different story

:hmz: Sorry yoda. I thought anyone living on Mud Island would consider 3-0 over the Aussies a pasting.....

BTW, why are the English called Poms instead of the Aussies. I thought it stood for Prisoner Of Mother England?

BB,
The point i was trying to make is that the Aussies weren't as rubbish as many were saying.

My understanding is that the term was used by the Australians who had settled already of the "newcomers".

A mean fast bowler makes all the difference.

Ours are too nice.

There once was a team that toured Aus and came off second best by some margin.
Their captain realised that the main reason for the lost was the quality fast bowling Aus possessed.
They went home and searched the country for the fastest meanest bowlers, skill and control can be learned once you have the ability.
The captain I am talking about is Clive Lloyd and he turned a mediocre West Indian team into the fiercest test side ever to lay their feet on a cricket field.
With Smith and Kallis' retirement it is a good time to do a revamp to the team, nothing major, but we relied on 5 or 6 world class players for far to long now. We need at least 2 fast bowlers to scare the living daylights out of the opposition (Morkel's terror spell once every 2 years is not good enough) and we need opening batsmen that can bat longer than 10 overs.

Hi Guys. Yes we need good bowlers, batsmen, a good wicketkeeper and excellent fielders BUT we require a captain who can think put of the box. And IMHO Smith lacked that ability. He went in with plan A and stuck to it no matter what. His field placing often left much to be desired, he rarely went to the bowler and spoke with him as to how he wanted him, the bowler, to bowl. Regrettably one has just to look how Australia 's Clark set about what he felt had to be done. They won the series. :(

I was at the Emirates on Saturday for the FA Cup match between Arsenal and Everton.
Match was in the balance until Giroud was brought on. He seems to have developed into a class player.

Such a good chance to win the FA now, with City out.
Surely we can't mess it up this season? :hmz:

3 weeks ago Giroud couldn't hit a barn door.

Watch out for Wigan, they are giant killing.

As for the Stormers, they blew a great chance to beat the Crusaders in NZ. At least there was one 'flair' moment in 80 minutes. It is overdue to sack Fleckie & get a backline coach who at least passed the ball himself.

Last season, a week after they beat City in the FA, they came to Emirates.
We had to win to get 4th.
They had to win to stay up.
We thrashed them!

Was probably the best atmosphere at any game I have been to.

I have been an Arsenal fan since 1972, and I am mostly happy with their consistency so far this season, but when it comes to teams lower down in the log standing, Arsenal seem to blow it.
I do believe they have blown their Premier League Champions chances, but hopefully they can bring home the FA cup. Here's praying

Mizzbee,
It's been a long wait.
Hopefully it will be over soon.

Last night's result was predictable enough.

That Robben should get some sort of ban....for diving. :sniper:
