I've tried to meet many, but ended up with a chance encounter with 1 mite and a planned encounter with a former mite. :)

Next time I hope to do better!

Hi Deebee and Scips,

The idea is to see how many YR's you have met during your normal stay in the parks when on vacation
Maybe we should register a thread where organised meets were staged, such as the cricket, Prov meets, Uk meets etc. :hmz: . This should also be quite interesting

I often forget to write the names down in my notes for trip reports, which is a pity. It is so nice to meet fellow 'mites in the Park!

Our August/September 2012 trip was the first time we have met any mites!

Apologies in advance for incorrect spelling

Vlakvarkvrou & Sekmet
Vlakvarksegat
Leaping Lizards
Dassie Delight & Peregrine Falcon
Wildlife4everRoy

Sadly, we missed hilda and barryels and a few others it seems :(

Me too.

Some have become very good friends whom I would have missed if it were not for the forum.

Some more will become good friends, I am sure.

Think we've met just as many mites outside of the parks as in the parks...........!
Trouble is, we're so busy looking at the bush/sand/whatever that we miss seeing the YR's

Shew, I wish I could remember. I seem to think that our 6 week trip in 2010 might have been THE ONE for most mites. But do not ask me how many  What was amazing was that we were at Punda, camping. And we had our YR. And from chatting to folk in the camp at the time, I could not believe how many were forum members. A couple of honeymoon, and gent and his wife, and so on and on.

This is an interesting thread!. In 2009 I remember meeting Mgoddard at Satara and P Kop. Dinkybird and Hawk came to our caravan looking for mgoddard at Pkop. We also met Atlanta Joe and pointed him in the direction of Hippo Pools lion sighting. I also met Ecojunkie who was busy rounding up conference people at Bergndal for a sunset drive. We met several more and I did not write all their names down. Last year May I had the pleasure of meeting Billyf at Shingwedzi and Scipio near the Mopani turnoff. Next time I will write them all down in my TR notes.

I'm

Once, in October 2011, I spotted a YR going in the opposite direction (and I did have mine on) but gone too quickly to flag them down, and before anyone starts :naughty: , we were very engrossed in watching a snake buzzard swallow a snake at the time, and I only noticed the YR as they were going past me.

I'm looking forward to rectifying that at the end of November this year :)
