Hey guys.

Just wanna ask a quick question.

My parents came to visit me in Johannesburg and they wanna go to a game reserve near Johannesburg for the day on Sunday.

Does anyone know of any good places near here ?

Thanks.

Hi Mohsin

There's a few nice options, depending on how far they're prepared to travel. There's Suikerbosrand to the south east of Jo'burg, which is mainly grassland habitat, and has good birding and they'll see stuff like zebra, black wildebeest, eland, springbok, blesbok etc. To the north Dinokeng Game Reserve is quite good and has some beautiful bushveld, and also has Elephants and some Lions. Or if they're willing to travel about 2-2.5 hours there's always Pilanesberg which has the big 5 and everything.

Moshin, I would say - Rietvlei. It is closer than PTA to Joburg. Eland, blesbok, zebra and other antelope. Brilliant birding! And a chance of the rarities of coarse 8)

Rietvlei has 1 cheetah, rhino, buff and is close to jhb and quite nice for a day trip. you can also book tours into the lion camps
I try my best and that's what matters I hope.

Hey Vee's

Thought I would check in today, its been a rough couple days, left work on thursday feeling very sick, went to the doc on friday thought it was a tummy bug but wanted me to go for a malaria test if i got a high fever again, so saturday went for the test which was negative but on saturday evening I was not improving, went to the hospital on sunday for more tests and another malaria test thankfully negative again but I do have a kidney infection and a bacterial infection in the blood, but I can say that I am on the mend and its Kruger on Sat so I have to get better
