it was one of my first attempts at painting 10 yrs ago or so. it was the only one I had to show in relation to Africa, other than an intaglio print of an elephant, which I do not have a picture of on line...
I am looking forward to being inspired on my trip this year as well as get some amazing imagery for up n' coming pieces!

Finished another Big 5 cloths with a Impala Lily on.
The Lily is my own design....took some photos of the lily in Kruger and decided to paint it.

The cloth is 1m x 1m

I love fabric painting and most of my work end up as scatter cushions, tablecloths, aprons, shopping bags and I've also done quite a few for framing.

I had a paint cloth given to me, but when I got home I couldn't get the paints easily.So I am embroidering it One day when its done I'll post it here.

Ive just gone through all the posts on this forum - actually did not know that it was there. I really liked what I saw. The SANPARKS gallery does not seem to be visited much and does not allow for the kind of interaction we get on the forum. Reading the posts responding to Oumies wonderfull fabric painting proves that art inspired by nature can be a great pleasure to nature lovers.

There are several wildlife artists in the Lowveld and Id like to encourage them to post some of their work on the forum. Not for commercial purposes but for the enjoyment of the forumites and the encouragement that could come from the the resulting comments. As an artist myself I can vouch for the fact that its great to sell a painting but the real reward is communicating that something special to another person. It would be great if more wildlife art could be shared with people who love wildlife.

I regularly browze South African art websites and am amazed how littlle wildlife art is actually being created in SA. One would think that there would be an abundance wildlife art, given our rich wildlife heritage and many parks.

I truely hope that more forumites will post their creative works so that all of us can appreciate nature from another perspective, just as we enjoy the posts on the photography threads.
