One of our rituals is that we make up a song about the camp that we are staying in, we sing it at times during our holiday and another ritual is the first person (there are 3 of us) that spots the first animal (Impala not included) gets a cash prize from the "holiday kitty"

One silly ritual long before we reach the KNP: The radio/CD-player is quiet until we're out of Pretoria and on the open road... then the first song we play is Banaroo's "Dubi Dum Dum". It guarantees leopard sightings (yes plural) while at the KNP

Now if we could just get a song that would guarantee a pygmy kingfisher sighting :hmz: ... it's been on my wishlist for years, but nada...

I don't know if Inyati was serious about the yellow ribbons, or "tongue in cheek", but it has been the case with us as well!!

We no longer fly my famous yellow trousers, as several ellies have taken great exception to them over the last few months!!

We now have a very small yellow and red ribbon which they don't seem to notice.............but sadly neither do fellow forumites!!

Another ritual for us is to turn all music off as we go through the gate until we leave.

We always braai while in the park.

We always have an Amarula with our after braai coffee.

We have started saying "Haven't seen a ****** this trip yet" and usually we then do!!

Oh............. now I can't wait to get back!!!!!

For us, the first person to spot an animal after entering gets a can of condensed milk. A tradition at least 3 generations old now :D

The yellow ribbon is definately a bad luck omen for us
Were in the park in January, put our yellow ribbon on for the first time in many a trip, and guess what, we got "stuck" in the park, such a terrible thing to happen

Some new rituals now that we married, is to make sure SO gets coffee before opening her eyes :slap:
To always say "i'm wrong" :naughty:

Just kidding... We also have a habit of saying "you know what we haven't seen this trip/year/ ever etc..." and then the animal/bird in question just pops up...

Also do not get in the car without saying good morning and THREE quick kisses  ... We reckon three is lucky for us... And HUGE on the list is a bottle of pinotage and a bottle of whiskey  (don't want to mention brands), but gotta have one of each the first night- not a bottle, a glass each  - before we get out special sighting....

We always braai at least once a day, and if it's raining the evening, we braai for breakfast.
Windows open at al time, except if there are chips on the backseat and we're driving through a troop of baboons. :naughty:
No music, no papers, no tv, only wildlife movies if we're at a camp that shows them, then we go fliek (go to the movies) every night. Nothing like the smell of tabard or peaceful-sleep while eating ice-cream! 8)
A tot of tequila for each of the big 5 we see for the day, including cheetah and doggies. (1 for ellies, 1 for lion etc, not one for every ellie, otherwise you'll need 6 bottles a day if you're at Shingwedzi, same counts for lions at Satara and LS)
A kiss or something similar for every fish eagle call we hear, and for every tortoise or chameleon in the road. A stay in LS is filled with a lot of smooching. :k
An Amarula for SO, and a whiskey for me at every sunset. And we must sit still when it happens, no scurrying around. (iow relax and enjoy) 8)
A walk in the moonlight next to the fence hunting owls and hyenas before we hit the shower and bed.
I'm so homesick now......
