Just came across this interesting thread. My job is the opposite many of you will say: I have been in (international) banking for > 30 years, but without the crazy money making some of my "colleagues think is appropriate.

Became addicted to SA some years ago. A as a result of a reorganisation forced to move our holidays to a (for Europe) uncommon period.

So.... we are on our way to SA again in 4 weks, covering KNP, Golden Gate, Mokala, Augrabies and KTP

I am an apprentice retiree. My work is to give unwanted (and largely unheeded) advice and to get in the way wherever I can (e.g. wherever I am not needed). Just kidding. I have so many hobbies, my days are simply filled with joy.
I am a trained Forester and worked as such for about 8 years. Moved into consulting - first on organisational and general eficiency. Last 13 years or so worked as IT consultant - SAP HRM.

I am a biologist, stablehand and secondhand bookshop owner not necessarily in that order. Actually my graduation with BSc is in April! Whilst I have been studying externally and part-time the last 5 years I have worked with thoroughbred racehorses which I really enjoy. And a month ago we bought the bookshop which I run (after my horse work each morning) and I'm loving that too! My SO is a maintenance fitter at a beef export processing facility.

I definately chose my job for the office view. I sit in the front of those big metal birds pushing buttons and pretend to know what they are all for .

For the past 8 or 9 years been working with hubby (own business). We stock and sell Swarovski Crystal and I also make jewellery with it as well as on scatter cushions, t/shirts/jeans, etc. Previous job (most loved) was at a company called AfriCam. They were the first company who set up cameras at waterholes in SA and later outside of SA. I worked in the Content Dept. My job was to go through all the emails sent in of the animals seen on the cameras. I had to choose the best pic of the day/week/month/year. In one night I counted 18000 pics that I had to go through. I loved working for this company. Learnt so much more about the animals. Met so many people from all over the world. Would love to work in such working environment again. Anywhere in Kruger will suit me just fine.

Okay so I have quite a few jobs, two pays me the other two doesn't (well not in money anyway)

My day job: Work as a personal assistant for a independent financial broker so in the other words I work with long term insurance...*yawns*

My odd weekend job: Work as a bar tender at a well known music venue just outside Nelspruit. I love it there besides the people you meet I love scaring the "rock stars" there with stories of leopards lurking around their chalets (they are there but more into the mountains) etc

My non paying job: I run a street team for a very well known American band for the whole of Africa. It's quite a job doing the marketing and stuff but it's a passion. Plus it's promotion for people to realise we are not that bad after all here in humble SA.
And I do volunteer work for a wildlife rehab centre that's between Nelspruit and White River, I get to work with servals, striped polecat, red & common duiker, mamba's, spitting cobra's, crows, giant eagle owls, barn owls (helped raise 2 hatchlings), squirrels...the list goes on and on.

And I'm currently a part time student as well in game ranging and wild life management. Once I'm done I'm taking up a job offer I received already as a guide.
