Hi guys,

what is your opinions on the above-mentioned lens?

I can pick one up for R8 500. Glass and mechanics are excellent. The matt coating is starting to peel off on some edges.

It will be primarily used on a D7000 and on occasion on D3000.

Should I go for it? Also, what should I look out for.

R8500 is a fantastic price for a F2.8 lens and I would go for it. Put on a lens cover to hide those markings.

Let me know if you have already purchased it and post some shots.

Hi DotDan.

I was too late. Called the guy to make arrangements for the weekend, but he had already somebody coming to have a look in the week. I would have been next in-line.

Keep in contact with the seller - it may fall through!
I'm not sure that it would work on a D3000 - something you will need to check.
Keep your eyes open and network with other photographers in your area - you never know your luck.

Thanks JDW.

It was confirmed sold.

This lens would have been on the D7000 most of the time anyway.

Until a goody comes along, I will look for a 70-300 that will work on my D3000 as well. After visiting a couple of camera shops, all of them said that I should consider the Tamron 70-300 VC USD above a secondhand Nikon 70-300 VR.

I was quite surprised by this. Not sure if there are Tamron kickbacks.
