I've been a long-time visitor but this is my first post. We live in Europe (Dutch-speaking part of Belgium - I enjoy reading the occasional Afrikaanse post :-) ), but spend all our holidays abroad for wildlife photography. For the past 15 years, we've mainly visited North America, but last year - thanks to the information on this forum - we took the plunge and visited South Africa. One word - wow! Needless to say, we're planning our next trip for later this year.
We saw way more wildlife than we had dared to hope for - I just wanted to share some of our shots.
First one is a shot of 3 Gemsbok in a sandstorm. We were driving back from Nossob to Twee Rivieren on a rather windy day, and around the Kameelsleep waterhole the blowing sand got so bad we decided to wait it out The fact there was a herd of Gemsbok sheltering beneath the trees at the waterhole played a role too :-)
The Gembok were all facing into the wind, creating beautiful patterns. It was pretty hard to predict which shot would work, since sand clouds would shift continuously, but we ended up with a number of good shots. his is our favorite.Gemsbok in sandstorm, Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park
Hope you enjoy it as much as we do, and thanks again for all the really useful information!
