Hi Kicker Cat. I am not sure what you want out of the comments, but here are some comments. I think you answered the first question in terms of the size of the object in the frame. You need to get closer or use a longer lens. The waxbill is sitting against a very busy background, however I know they don't hang a round, so you need to take the shot as presented. Always try and get a clean BG.
The Pied Kingfisher shot. First and foremost is to level the horizon and in this case the telephone line it is sitting on. There is separation between the line and the tip of the beak which is good. There seems to be some distortion around the edges of the image which is darker than the centre. Not sure what equipment you are using and would be useful to know.

Thanks Toureg,

I know the pics can do with cropping - just uploaded them as taken.

Camera is a Canon 50 D and the lens a 100 to 400 zoom - taken at 5.6 but don't remember the speed - but about 1600

I just wanted to see what comments i received - it is alway difficult with birds as especially with the smallerones you just don't get time - they seem to move as you are ready to shoot.

Hi KC;

It would be easier to comment if the images were larger :roll:

But; if these are 100% then you've done very well to get that close to the Waxbills with the 50D + 100-400... A decent crop will still leave you with a good size for printing, and easily good enough for a large on-screen display...

Pied KF; a little more patience will get you much closer! They're quite common...

Cheers;

Lee

Hi EOS User,

As mentioned the pic is large - just need to find a way of getting it up in larger format.

BTW the KF is a Giant KF - spotted on the way out of KP on the second to last bridge which is in need of repair - so I had to take the pic quickly as there were cars behind me wanting to leave the park - this was at about 17:30

I have found that most visitors to KP are really not interested in biirds so they get huffy if you hold them up.

Thanks for the comments,

KR
